About this build
A bench, a lamp, a tree and a bit of path: four things most people picture for a city park, squeezed onto a 16 x 12 stud patch of grass. With 108 parts over 11 steps, it makes a relaxed first scene, and most newcomers finish in about 30–45 minutes.
Each corner of the model teaches one small technique. The path in steps 1 and 2 is made of gray 2 x 2 tiles stepping diagonally across the grass, with round 1 x 1 tiles softening the edges. Tiles have no studs, so the path stays smooth and reads as pavement rather than more building surface. The flower bed in steps 3 and 4 shows the opposite trick: red, yellow and white round 1 x 1 plates and five-petal plates dotted along a brown planter box turn single studs into blossoms.
The tree is the tallest part and the one to watch. Its trunk is three stacked round bricks, and the crown starts small on a 4 x 4 plate, widens through a 6 x 6 plate and layers of green bricks, then narrows again. In step 7, four slopes face outward in a pinwheel around the top, rounding off the crown without curved parts. Red round plates scattered on the ledges stand in for apples.
The bench in step 8 is a neat lesson in proportion. Black 1 x 2 and 1 x 1 bricks make the iron legs, and thin reddish-brown plates make the slats, so the seat looks light instead of blocky. The lamp post beside it is a single tall 1 x 1 x 5 brick topped with a trans-yellow round brick and a black cone.
For a variation, swap the red apples for white or yellow round plates and the tree becomes a blossoming one.
