About this build
Eleven steps and a little over a hundred parts: the garden shed is the gentlest build in this group, and a good first model if you have not built from steps before.
Its look comes down to paint. The walls are sand green, and white 1 x 1 x 5 bricks stand at the corners as trim boards, matching the white door frame, the way painted timber buildings are often trimmed. The roof is plain black slopes, so the green and white read clearly beneath it.
Two choices make the walls go up fast. Several wall pieces are 1 x 2 x 2 bricks, double height, which cover two courses at once. And the back wall in step 5 is just six 1 x 6 bricks stacked between white corner posts, with no openings to work around.
The roof runs front to back, so the triangular gable faces you, with a white grille brick set into it as a vent in step 7. A white 8 x 8 plate in step 6 caps the walls and overhangs them by one stud at the front and back, which leaves a thin white edge under the roof line.
Outside, the props are small builds of their own. The shovel stands blade-down on a gray 1 x 1 brick with round brown bricks as its handle; the rake has a grille tile for a head. A crate of vegetables, a window box with two flowers, terracotta pots and gray stepping stones fill the rest of the 16 x 16 stud lawn.
Most builders will finish in about 20-35 minutes.
